From Lockdown Takeaway to Media Brand: The Rise of BIA'S Kitchen Show

Bia Rodrigues-Perry didn't set out to build a media company. The Brazilian-born presenter, producer and marketing strategist, now living in Warwickshire, started with a takeaway service during lockdown. Six years on, that venture has become BIA'S Kitchen Show — a platform that uses food as a door into conversations about culture, business and wellbeing.

She arrived in the UK with a marketing career already behind her. In Brazil she had worked with major international brands, built on one skill above all: knowing how people communicate, and teaching companies to do it better. None of that travelled well. After meeting her husband and relocating, she was starting cold — no contacts, no reputation, an unfamiliar culture to decode. "I had to adapt to a new culture, build a new network and prove myself all over again," she says.

The pandemic gave her an opening she hadn't planned for. BIA'S Kitchen launched as a premium takeaway, part livelihood and part attempt to offer people something warm during a grim stretch. As lockdowns lifted, she took a harder look at what she was doing. Cooking was only a fraction of it. She was also a producer, a presenter, a marketer, someone who knew how to shape a story — and all of that was going unused.

Combining the two produced the show. Its first series, Empowering the Independent Food Industry, featured 21 independent restaurants and chefs across Britain as the sector clawed its way back from the worst period hospitality had faced. It landed harder than she anticipated, leading to her first book and reshaping the show into something broader than a cookery programme. "Food is still the invitation," she says. "But the real purpose has become the people behind it."

Demand from brands followed. Companies started asking for the storytelling she was already producing for herself, which prompted her to launch BIA'S Marketing, Production & PR. The agency covers strategy, branding, video and publicity, plus presenting, documentary work, event coverage, brand partnerships, social media and photography.

Her current series, Hot Flushes & Hot Foods, tackles menopause, nutrition and wellbeing head-on. Other instalments have taken on travel, entrepreneurship and community.

The awards have piled up too: Outstanding Entrepreneur, an Achievement Award, Best Marketing Company at the Cotswolds Awards, plus a place as national finalist for Content Creator of the Year 2026. Her book, BIA'S Kitchen Show: A Culinary Journey of Gratitude, was published alongside them. She's dismissive of the trophy count. "Success isn't measured simply by numbers or awards, but by the impact each story has on the people who watch it," she says.

Broadcast-quality production and documentaries are next on her list. Having already rebuilt one career from nothing, she seems unbothered by the scale of the second.
