Veteran practitioners among the seniors moved with graceful precision, their steady breathing and focused postures inspiring everyone around them. “Yoga has been my companion for over four decades,” shared one elderly participant with a warm smile. “It keeps my body flexible and my mind at peace. Seeing the young ones join us today fills my heart with joy.”

The younger participants, full of vigor, brought infectious energy to the gathering. Their perfect handstands and lively spirit added a fresh dimension to the session, proving that yoga truly transcends age. Women participants, many balancing family responsibilities, found the morning particularly rejuvenating, describing it as a much-needed pause for both body and soul.

Organizers emphasized that the event was more than just physical exercise. “Yoga is a way of life,” said one coordinator. “It builds mental resilience, fosters discipline, and strengthens community bonds. Today’s gathering beautifully showcased how this ancient practice unites generations.”

The regulator released the Draft Telecom Consumer Protection (Thirteenth Amendment) Regulation, 2026 on April 7, putting forward a clear mandate aimed at addressing long-standing demands from millions of users who rely primarily on traditional voice calls and text messages rather than mobile data.

This proposal builds on TRAI’s earlier intervention through the Telecom Consumer Protection (Twelfth Amendment) Regulation, 2024, which had required operators to provide at least one Special Tariff Voucher (STV) exclusively for voice and SMS services. However, the authority noted that the availability of such plans remains limited in the market. Many consumers, especially senior citizens, feature phone users, and those in rural areas, continue to face a situation where they are forced to purchase data-heavy bundles even when they do not need or use internet services.

“Multiple representations have been received from consumers and stakeholders requesting shorter-duration voice and SMS-only recharge packs,” the draft regulation highlights, reflecting the regulator’s direct engagement with public feedback.

Under the new draft rules, telecom service providers will be required to introduce corresponding Voice and SMS-only Special Tariff Vouchers for every unique validity period they currently offer in their bundled voice-SMS-data plans. Importantly, the tariff for these voice-SMS-only vouchers must be proportionally reduced, excluding the cost component of data services. This ensures that users pay only for what they actually need, making telecom services more transparent and affordable.

The proposed amendment is expected to benefit several key consumer segments:

• Senior citizens who primarily use their phones for staying in touch with family through calls and occasional SMS.
• Users of basic feature phones that do not support heavy data usage.
• Rural residents and low-income groups who depend on voice communication but find bundled data packs unnecessary and expensive.
• Anyone looking for simpler, cost-effective recharge options without being pushed into data bundles.

By mandating matching validity periods, TRAI aims to prevent telecom companies from indirectly nudging customers towards higher-value bundled plans even when data is not required. The regulator believes this will bring greater flexibility and fairness in pricing structures across the industry.

Industry observers note that in recent years, bundled data plans have become the dominant offering from major operators like Airtel, Jio, and Vodafone Idea. While data consumption has grown rapidly, a substantial section of the population—estimated in several consumer surveys—still prefers or needs only basic voice and texting services. The new proposal seeks to balance the market by ensuring these users are not left with limited or unattractive options.

The draft regulation has been placed in the public domain on TRAI’s official website for stakeholder consultation. The authority has invited written comments from all interested parties, including telecom operators, consumer groups, and individual users. Comments must reach the regulator by April 28, 2026.

Feedback can be submitted electronically to Shri Vijay Kumar, Advisor (Financial & Economic Analysis), TRAI. The authority has indicated it will carefully examine all submissions before finalising the regulation.

This latest move by TRAI underscores its continued commitment to protecting consumer interests in a rapidly evolving telecom landscape. If implemented, the regulation could mark an important shift towards more inclusive and need-based tariff offerings, allowing millions of Indians to recharge their phones according to their actual usage patterns without paying for services they do not use.

The consultation period provides an opportunity for the industry and public to share practical insights that could shape the final rules. telecom watchers will be closely following the responses and TRAI’s subsequent decisions in the coming weeks.

This was perhaps the first such occasion on the soil of Marwar where such a massive crowd gathered without the labels of caste or religion, engaging in deep brainstorming on meaningful societal issues. The main focus of the conference was centered on three key points: the eradication of unemployment, the abolition of casteism, and environmental conservation.

Historic Moment: 'Jal Samagam' and 'Sarvodaya Kalash' Around 1:00 PM, the most emotional and historic moment of the event, the 'Jal Samagam', was witnessed. Erasing the divides of caste, people from various communities brought water with them. All of this water was poured into a single urn as a symbol of unity and harmony, which was subsequently named the 'Sarvodaya Kalash'.

Industrialist Meghraj Singh Royal's Emphasis on Unemployment, Education, and Environment: Addressing the gathering, prominent industrialist and Chairman of the United Global Peace Foundation, Meghraj Singh Royal, clearly stated that unemployment is currently the biggest problem. He noted that meritorious children of Marwar scoring above 90 percent are left behind due to a lack of resources. The foundation is preparing such children for higher education and administrative services (IAS, IPS), ensuring that capable individuals enter the administration in the future to change the state's landscape.

Highlighting the immense potential for solar energy in Rajasthan, he suggested that unemployed youth should be allotted barren land and integrated into solar power generation. This, he noted, could generate crores in income and millions of jobs. He also described tourism as a massive source of employment. He elaborated on five key points:

1. Solution to Unemployment and the Solar Energy Model: In his keynote address, Royal explained that Marwar possesses limitless wealth in the form of the sun. Presenting a solid economic model, he stated that if just 10% of Rajasthan's barren land is given to the unemployed and farmers, 1 megawatt of electricity can be generated on 4 acres of land, yielding an annual income of ₹50 lakh. This model can provide direct employment to 4.5 million (45 lakh) people in Marwar and generate crores in revenue, with indirect jobs reaching into the millions.

2. Tourism and Revival of Traditional Arts: He shared his journey of putting Jaisalmer on the global tourism map in 1986 alongside Dr. Lalit K. Panwar. He explained how, starting from camel stables, he built a hotel industry that didn't just construct buildings but provided local Manganiyar singers, artisans, and dancers with a global platform and sustainable employment.

3. Scientific and Historical Explanation of Casteism: Launching a scathing attack on casteism, Royal said that in ancient times, 'caste' was identified not by birth but by skill and occupation (such as potter, barber, gardener). It was merely a work style, which was later twisted into the disease of 'casteism' by the British and politicians for their selfish motives. He compared casteism to the salty water of the sea, urging people to abandon it and create sweet water through the technology of hard work.

4. Tsunami of Technology (AI) and Warning of East India Company 2.0: He warned the youth that in the near future, technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) will snatch away jobs on a massive scale. Therefore, it is essential to preserve manual skills and traditional arts. Terming large corporate retail chains as the new "East India Company," he appealed to the public to stop ordering goods from foreign online companies and to support local traders and brethren instead; otherwise, 70% of the coming generations will be left unemployed.

5. Public Policy, Not Politics (Lokneeti, Not Rajneeti): Meghraj Singh Royal clarified that the purpose of this platform is not to form a political party. However, he called upon the public to send educated, capable youth who wear suits and ties and understand technology and the economy to the Legislative Assembly and Lok Sabha, rather than uneducated leaders.

Marwar's Cultural Heritage and Brotherhood - Arvind Singh Bhati: Arvind Singh Bhati, Student Union President of Jai Narain Vyas University, Jodhpur, stated that today's Mahasammelan is a collective effort to save Marwar's 'Apanayat' (sense of belonging) and love. Citing historical examples, he reminded the audience that Lord Ram ate the half-eaten berries of Mata Shabari, and the supreme societal positions given to Maharishi Valmiki and Mahatma Vidur prove that karma (deeds) is paramount. He recalled Marwar's social fabric, where from birth to death, every auspicious and religious function sees the equal and respectful participation of all castes like Nai (barber), Suthar (carpenter), Manganiyar, etc. Bhati urged the youth to avoid the 'digital cocaine' of social media and have the courage to call out what is right.

Solutions Along with Problems - Mukesh Meghwal: UGPF Manager Mukesh Meghwal, in an emotional address, shared that to prepare this unity platform, he toured the villages and hamlets of Marwar for three months, inviting all 36 communities. He emphasized that Shri Meghraj Singh Royal doesn't just point out society's problems but implements concrete solutions. Hotel management training for 100 youths at Suryagarh with a monthly stipend of ₹25,000, funding marriages for poor daughters, and providing free education for 700 children through the foundation are living examples. From the land of Baba Ramdev, he administered an oath to all attendees to strengthen social unity and brotherhood.

Hard Work is the Real Prestige - Sant Omdas Maharaj: Sant Omdas Maharaj stated that a person's prestige comes not from their money or position, but from their Purusharth (hard work/effort). Praising the selfless service of Shri Meghraj Singh, he remarked that he is 'Royal' not just on the outside, but on the inside as well. The saint honored the sacrifices made by the ancestors of the Meghwal community (such as Raja Ram Meghwal, Manana ji, etc.) for water and society during the historical construction of Pushkar, Pichola, and Mehrangarh. He called upon everyone to tear down the walls of hatred and be threaded together like beads in a single garland.

Example of Great Men and Youthful Energy - Moti Singh Jodha: Youth leader Moti Singh Jodha, in his impassioned address, asserted that untouchability and hierarchy were never part of our original culture. The chief guest at Lord Ram's coronation was Kevat (a boatman). Pabuji Maharaj was accompanied by brave men of the Bhil community, and in Maharana Pratap's army, Bhils, Gadoliya Lohars, and Hakim Khan Sur stood firmly shoulder to shoulder. He urged the crowd to stand with full strength behind platforms and champions of action who strive to advance education, employment, and the entire society together.

Confluence of Heritage, Culture, and Folk Art: The program was formally inaugurated by Umrao Singh Jodha and Raees Ahmed Malik. Impactful screenings of the 'Marwar Documentary' and 'Soch Documentary' took place. Booklet Attracted Attention: A booklet distributed by the organizers caught everyone's attention. It revealed the truth behind the dominance and glare of solar companies in the region. It detailed two projects outlining a blueprint for unemployment eradication and environmental conservation, leaving everyone highly intrigued.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. G.L. Yadav stated that the primary objective of the event is to promote the spirit of service in society and to provide a dignified platform to individuals performing exceptional work. Mahendra Singh Bhansali, President of the Jaisalmer Jain Trust, informed that large dome tents have been under construction for a month at the Dedansar Ground in preparation for this historic Jain community event. A museum is also being set up at the venue. Approximately 20,000 devotees of Dadaguru Jindattsuri from across India and abroad are expected to attend. Jaisalmer district is considered an extremely significant religious site for the Jain community.

Sacred Chadar: A Symbol of Unwavering Faith

According to Organizing Committee Secretary Padam Tatia, the first Dadaguru, Acharya Shri Jindattsuri, is regarded as a great 11th-century spiritual leader. As per tradition, his last rites were performed in Ajmer on land granted by King Arnoraj. During the cremation, the miraculous event of the Chadar not burning became a symbol of divine grace and remains a center of deep faith for devotees.

Historical records state that about one and a half centuries ago, the Maharawal of Jaisalmer brought this Chadar from Anhilpur Patan to mitigate a devastating epidemic. Currently, the sacred Chadar is preserved at Shri Jinbhadra Suri Gyan Bhandar inside Jaisalmer Fort. The Chadar Mahotsav is organized based on this revered tradition.

On March 7 and 8, 2026, a National Scholarly Seminar will be held on the theme: “Contribution of the Dadaguru Tradition to India’s Cultural Unity, Social Harmony, and Integration.”

New Delhi, 16^th June, 2025: The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has observed that a large number of spam complaints are made by the customers against the business entities from whom the consumers have earlier purchased goods or services. On investigation, such business entities often claim that they possess the consent of the consumer for receiving commercial calls and messages.

Under the regulatory framework defined by the Telecom Commercial Communications Customer Preference Regulations (TCCCPR), 2018, an entity can make commercial communications to a consumer irrespective of his/her Do Not Disturb (DND) preferences provided the entity has taken explicit consent from the consumer. However, in many cases, these consents were collected through offline or unverifiable means, making it extremely difficult to ascertain their validity and genuineness. In several instances, consumers report that their mobile numbers have been acquired by the entities for this purpose through misrepresentation, deception, or unauthorized data-sharing practices.

TRAI has undertaken several innovative regulatory measures in recent years to curb such practices. These include allowing consumers to register complaints against unregistered telemarketers (UTMs) even without prior DND registration, and initiating large-scale disconnection of telecom resources being misused by the entities for spamming activities. However, verification of consent for commercial communication citing offline consent of consumer, remains a formidable challenge.

To address the issue, the regulations provide for acquiring consent digitally by the entities and registering them in a secure and interoperable digital consent registry maintained by the Telecom Service Providers (TSPs) for easy verification of consents while commercial communication is made to the consumers. However, for successful operation of this consent registration framework, onboarding of entities sending commercial communications is a necessary requirement.

Accordingly, to begin the national roll-out, TRAI has launched a Pilot Project in coordination with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) involving select banks and has issued a Direction on 13^th June, 2025, to all the Telecom Service Providers, mandating them to pilot this framework in collaboration with banks. Given the sensitivity of banking transactions and cases of financial frauds through spam calls, the banking sector has been prioritized for the first phase of implementation. This Pilot, running under a Regulatory Sandbox framework, will validate the operational, technical, and regulatory aspects of the enhanced Consent Registration Function (CRF) and lay the foundation for sector-wise scaling of the digital consent ecosystem.

TRAI remains committed to safeguarding consumer interest and enhancing trust in legitimate commercial communications. The Authority will continue to work with sectoral regulators and stakeholders to ensure that the ecosystem evolves towards more secure, transparent, and consumer-centric practices.

The meticulously designed lehenga, adorned with 5D peacock embroidery and embellished with real pearls and rubies, was selected by the Europe-Asia Fashion Alliance (EAFA), the official fashion partner of Cannes. What makes the selection even more exceptional is that Cannes typically favors western gown formats for its red carpet events. But Dr. Sharma’s design broke conventions — it impressed the selection committee so much that they lifted the gown-only requirement, allowing her to retain the bridal form and merely adapt it to a gown silhouette.

Unfortunately, as the festival approached in mid-May, rising tensions between India and Pakistan led to canceled flights from Jodhpur and widespread logistical issues. With her travel plans disrupted, Dr. Sharma missed the opportunity to physically attend the Cannes Film Festival, which ran from May 13 to 24.

Despite this setback, Dr. Sharma has already received invitations to both the next edition of Cannes and the prestigious Paris Fashion Show, reaffirming the industry’s recognition of her talent and artistry. She underwent a rigorous five-round selection process that included video interviews and detailed dress sketches, with final confirmation arriving in February 2025.

Dr. Sharma remains optimistic, stating that her mission continues beyond the red carpet. Through her Vastrashala Academy, she trains rural, urban, and underprivileged youth in fashion design, textiles, AI-based fashion tech, and embroidery. Her vision is to empower future designers to represent India globally, just as she has.

In this direction, India's first gene-based CAR T-cell therapy has emerged as a new ray of hope for blood, lymphoma cancer patients. In a press conference held on Wednesday, experts from the Oncology Department of HCG Cancer Center discussed this advanced therapy in detail. According to experts, CAR T-cell therapy is a revolutionary step in the treatment of cancer, which regenerates the ability to fight cancer by changing the patient's immune system.

What is CAR T-cell therapy

This therapy enables the patient's own T-cells to fight cancer through gene editing technology. After this, they are put back into the patient's body, where they identify and destroy cancer cells. Experts believe that this technology is adding a new chapter in the field of cancer treatment.

Dr. Naresh Somani, Director Oncology at HCG Cancer Center Jaipur and Dr. Abhishek Charan, Medical Oncologist, said that CAR T-cell therapy is proving to be very effective in the treatment of cancer patients. Recently, a patient has got life donation with this advanced technology. He told that the patient Neeraj (name changed), whose age is 63 years, was suffering from B cell lymphoma for the past few years. He took treatment from outside but after 6 months he was again affected by the disease. After that he consulted Dr. Abhishek Charan Medical Oncologist at HCG Cancer Center Jaipur and in his tests the patient was found to have stage IV lymphoma. After this the patient was treated with CAR T-cell therapy. After complete treatment, when the patient's PET CT was checked once again, according to the PET CT the patient is completely healthy and is living his normal life.

This is how the therapy works

Dr. Naresh Somani tells that in this therapy T cells are taken from the patient's blood and then with the help of a receptor the gene is combined with the T cells in the laboratory which targets a certain protein on the patient's cancer cells. This special receptor is called chimeric antigen receptor. In this, a large number of CAR T cells are modified in the laboratory and then infused into the patient. This therapy strengthens the patient's immune system to fight cancer. This therapy is the latest technology in the world, with which blood and lymphoma cancer can be easily defeated. This facility is available only at a few selected places in the world.

Dr. Bharat Rajpurohit, COO of the institute, told that HCG Cancer Center, one of the top cancer treatment hospitals in the country, is a large cancer treatment center in Rajasthan, where along with advanced and latest technologies, a skilled and professional team of medical experts is also present under one roof, which ensures the right care and accurate treatment of cancer patients. Jodhpur, 5th February 2025: AU Small Finance Bank (AU SFB), India’s largest SFB, inaugurates the two-day 3rd AU Bano Champion State Level Tournament- phase 2, at Umaid Stadium & Gaushala Stadium in Jodhpur yesterday. The inaugural ceremony was graced by H.H. Gaj Singh Ji, Jodhpur and Shri Dilip Soni, a special guest. AU Bano Champion is a strategic initiative of the CSR arm of AU SFB started in 2021 to promote sports for the underprivileged youth, fostering discipline, skills, and an organized training support at grassroots.

The rigorous selection process started 5 months back with village level competitions, followed by district level tournament and then the state level tournament held in 2 phases, Jhunjhunu (28-29th January) and in Jodhpur (5th-6th February). This tournament saw participation from athletes competing across Boxing, Wushu, Athletics and Football.

Since the launch of this healthcare initiative in September 2024, the latest 5th phase has successfully been completed by benefitting over 5000 students. The campaign was rolled out in 13 government schools in tribal-dominated Kalahandi district of Odisha.
