Devesh Pankaj Bhaiya, a Class 12 student, and Debdatta Priyadarshi, a Class 10 student, were part of India’s four-member IChO team, with both training at ALLEN Kota. Devesh, a seven-year veteran of the institute, has an illustrious academic record, including selection by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), a 97.6% score in Class 12, and All India Rank 8 in JEE Advanced 2025. Sambalpur; 03 rd July, 2025: IIM Sambalpur, one of the most progressive and fast-growing IIMs in

the country, renowned for setting standards continues to uphold its commitment towards academic

excellence and diversity. In the latest admissions cycle for the academic year (2025-2027), IIM

Sambalpur has reported slight increase of 5% in the numbers of engineers admitted compared to non-

engineers. This development is evident across both its newly launched MBA in Business Analytics

programme as well as the 11th batch of its flagship MBA Programme for 2025–27. In alignment with

IIM Sambalpur’s core values - Inclusivity, Integrity and Innovation, IIM Sambalpur’s incoming MBA

batch also comprises three students with physical and mobility challenges.

Of the total 363 graduates admitted across both the MBA programmes, 186 which is constituting

51.24% of the batch, hold engineering degrees. While non-engineers students’ account for the

remaining 48.76%. The preference for technical background is evident in the MBA in Business

Analytics (MBABA) programme, where the engineering cohort comprises of 61.70%. However, the

flagship MBA programme, reports a nearequal distribution, with 49.68% of graduates from

engineering and 50.32% from nonengineering students. Additionally, the MBABA cohort stands out

for its industry readiness, as 100% of the cohort possess prior work experience, thereby increasing the

practical orientation and applicability of the programme in the evolving business environment.

Complementing this academic spread is healthy gender diversity: the incoming batch is 33% female

and 67% male overall, with the flagship MBA classroom showing 38% women and 62% men, while

the MBABA pioneers include 5% women and 95% men. Disciplinary variety stretches well beyond

engineering—around 20% of students hold commerce and accountancy degrees, 9% come from pure

sciences, 8% from managementrelated courses and 4% from the arts, with the remainder bringing

specialised qualifications in fields such as agriculture, horticulture, pharmacy, law, journalism,

fashion technology, dentistry, hotel and tourism management, and shipping. Seventyfive percent of

the entire cohort arrive with prior work experience. Within the MBA programme 72% are experienced

hires, while in MBABA everyone has at least a year of industry exposure. For the MBA class

specifically, 4% have under a year of experience, 19% bring onetotwo years, 43% have twotothree

years, and 6% exceed the threeyear mark; the MBABA group distributes across onetotwo years

(49%), twotothree years (36%) and threetofour years (15%). Sectoral representation is equally broad,

led by information technology, engineering and industrial roles, banking and financial services, and

consulting, with strong showings from retail and FMCG, education and edtech, pharmaceuticals and

healthcare, sales and marketing, ecommerce, legal services, telecommunications and several niche

domains. In terms of geographical diversity, the batch comes from almost all states and union

territories of India, including the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. In terms of state of domicile,

Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh account for 13% and 12% of the incoming batch, followed by Madhya

Pradesh, Odisha, Delhi, West Bengal, Telangana, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Kerala,

and Gujarat.

The chief guest of the program was Khandela (Sikar), MLA Mr. Subhash Meel. During the program, Principal of Vedanta PG Girls College, Reengus, Prof. Dr. Shubha Sharma, National Coordinator and Administration Head of Vedanta Foundation, Kolkata, Mrs. Sujata Gyan and other dignitaries were present. Studies, a novel two-year program under the School of Humanities and Social Sciences of IIT

Mandi. This specialized program gives students an up-close insight into the opportunities and

challenges of the Himalayan region, mixing theoretical perspectives with practical research and

fieldwork.

The program, with 80-credit coursework, promotes local, regional, and international issues

associated with development, sustainability, and empowerment in the Himalayan belt. Moreover,

selected students can opt for the M.A+ Ph.D. Dual Degree, which further refines their research

skills in the subject.

Apart from intellectual education, the School of Humanities and Social Science of IIT Mandi

The Earth's natural resources are a shared inheritance bestowed upon all human beings by "Mother Nature." This perspective redefines natural resources not merely as commodities to be exploited but as a collective birthright.

Inherent Worth and Entitlement

Every individual possesses an inherent worth, metaphorically described as a "prince or princess of Nature." This philosophy asserts that all people are entitled to a fair share of Earth's natural wealth, challenging existing economic disparities where access to resources is primarily determined by financial power.

Redistribution as Justice

Corporate and governmental exploitation of natural resources is framed as a violation of this inherent right. The proposed Global Heritage Tax aims to rectify this injustice by ensuring a fair redistribution of resource-derived benefits to those deprived of their rightful share.

Tax Base

The tax would be levied on multinational corporations and industries that significantly utilize Earth's natural resources. The taxable activities include:

Extraction of minerals, oil, and gas: Industries involved in the extraction of nonrenewable resources would be taxed for depleting shared global assets.

Deforestation for agriculture or logging: Companies responsible for large-scale deforestation would contribute to a fund aimed at reforestation and environmental restoration.

Water usage for industrial processes: Significant water consumption in manufacturing, agriculture, and energy production would be subject to taxation.

Emissions of greenhouse gases: Companies emitting carbon dioxide and other pollutants would pay a levy proportionate to their environmental impact.

Pollution of land, water, or air: Entities that degrade natural ecosystems through industrial waste, chemical spills, or excessive land use would be held financially accountable.

Impacts on biodiversity and ecosystems: Activities leading to habitat destruction, species endangerment, or ecosystem destabilization would be included under the tax structure.

Conclusion

The Global Heritage Tax is an ethical and economic solution to address the inequalities of resource exploitation.
